In Baccarat you have the objective of betting on the winning hand. The winning hand is going to be a hand that is close to 9 as that is the highest hand you can have. You have three bets that you can place. You can bet on the dealer, player, or the standoff. The standoff is when you have a tie. This standoff bet is very rare as a winner, despite the fact it can payout a little more than the regular bets.
The bet on the banker or player is even money. This means if you wager $5 and you have the winning bet you get $5 in addition to the original wager. So you now have ten dollars over the five you started with. Baccarat doesn't really have a strategy that will allow you to win. Instead you need to have your own system for playing. First let's look at one strategy that has been used not only in Baccarat, but other casino games as well. It is called the Martingale system. In this system you are supposed to double your bet every time you lose. For example if you bet $5 and you lost the next round you should bet $10. So when you win you are gaining your losses back, but there is fallacy in this thinking.
You should never use this system. You are just going to lose more than you make. There are limits on the tables for how much you can bet on each round. Once you reach this limit you can't double your wager anymore. That is the first fallacy. Second if you keep doubling your bet you are soon going to be out of money, without recouping your losses.
In Baccarat rather than throwing money at the bet you may not get back, you need to realize the house has the edge. The house always has the edge, which means the banker is going to have the edge. In Baccarat the banker will win three to five hands more than the player. If you are always placing the same bet on the banker you have more chance of winning. A lot of the times a player doesn't want to bet on the banker because they don't want to pay the commission which is 5 percent of the winnings. However, when you do the math you will find that in Baccarat you win more often with the banker; therefore the commission is small potatoes compared to betting on the player each time. |
