Like all other online gaming software providers Cryptologic offers a baccarat game as well. The Cryptologic baccarat by and large follows the standard format. However, there are a few factors that need to be pointed out and a few customization options that need to be understood.
There are two facets of Cryptologic baccarat that are a drawback as compared to the baccarat offered by some other software suppliers. Baccarat players at Cryptologic online casinos need to be aware of these factors so that they do not lose out. The minimum bet in Cryptologic blackjack is $2. This in itself is not a problem. $2 is not high for a minimum limit. The problem occurs because $1 chips are displayed on the table and it is not specified that the minimum bet is $2. Hence many new players may place a wager of $1. What happens then is that the wager is automatically converted to $2 and $2 is deducted from the player’s balance. Though a text message appears on the screen, many players may overlook this and think that they are wagering only $1.
The bigger problem is the tie bet. This is the wager that the hand values of the Player and the Banker will be the same. In Cryptologic baccarat the tie bet pays out at 8 to 1.
This is less than the payout offered in the baccarat games of some other software suppliers, which offer a payout of 9 to 1. In any event the tie bet has a high house edge and players should avoid it. But if for any reason players want to wager on the tie bet they should avoid doing so at any Cryptologic online casino.
The statistics of the previous hands are displayed in a box on the left hand side of the screen. The Banker’s hand is indicated by the letter B, the Player’s hand is indicated by the letter P and a tie is indicated by a dash. Consecutive wins by either the Banker or the Player are displayed in the same column. A new column is displayed when the Banker or Player starts a new winning streak. A tie is considered part of the same winning streak and is always displayed in the same column as the previous winner.
Cryptologic baccarat has the dealer’s voice explaining the play of the game and the end result. It is advised that new players play with the voice enabled because it helps in understanding the game. However if the player does not want to listen to these voices they can be turned off by deselecting the check box in the Casino Options. These options are accessed by clicking the Settings button in the bottom tool bar. The Settings also opens the Casino Limits option. It is prudent for new players to enter their weekly wagering limits here so that they do not wager more than they intend to. However, they should note that this limit applies across all games at the Cryptologic casino and not just baccarat.
