Online casino games are played between the player and the casino and this can get boring. Therefore online casinos host tournaments in which players get a chance to match skills with other players. On line casino tournaments in craps are all the more exciting because the vast number of bets can be exploited in the tournament.
The first factor the player must keep in mind is a target for the chip balance he wants to achieve at the end of the tournament. This can be assessed from the leader board. Therefore it makes sense not to enter the online craps tournament right in the beginning. The player should wait for at least half the time period of the tournament to get over and the leader board to settle down. He can then plan out a craps tournament strategy.
If the leader’s chip balance is not very much higher than the tournament starting balance then a conservative strategy is called for. Players should start with the line bets, the come bets and the free odds bets that offer a house edge of less than 1.5%. Since these bets do not offer very high payouts players would need to place slightly large wagers in order to increase the chip balance effectively. These bets are decided over a large number of rolls and that can be a major disadvantage in tournaments because in craps tournaments players have only a limited time to wager. This is unlike normal craps games where players are the master of their time.
If this strategy is not working or if the leading chip balance is very large to begin with then a more aggressive strategy is called for. Players need to place bets that meet the following requirements. They offer high payouts so that the chip count can be increased quickly. They are decided in one roll so that players can get more bets in the given time. Within these two parameters the player should choose the bets with the lower house edges. Any craps is a good bet. It wins if the following roll is a 2, 3 or 12. The payout usually is 7 to 1, which is the kind of payout needed under the situation. The house edge is 11%, which is high but the best available for these kind of payouts. The hard ways 4 and hard ways 10 also pay at 7 to 1 and have a house edge of 11%. The hard ways 6 and hard ways 8 have a payout of 9 to 1 and a house edge of 9%. While playing normal online craps these bets should never be made. They are being considered in online craps tournaments because of the need to increase the chip balance substantially and quickly, failing which the player will any way lose. It is important to understand that in normal play of craps increasing the chip balance from 1000 to 1200 results in a win of 200 credits. But increasing the chip balance from 1000 to 1200 in a tournament when the minimum required to get a share of the pool prize is 1700 will not pay any credits.
If the player manages to reach a paying position in the leader board he should review his strategy. First of all he should realize that the tournament is not over and players participating later can overtake him. Therefore he needs to build a margin. Once he has secured the desired margin he is not compelled to wager any more in the online craps tournament and risk diminishing his balance. He can exit from the tournament and his existing balance will be recorded.

Me neither... I guess craps is a popular enough game that it would warrant doing tournaments for this game type. I just would have never though that it was popular enough. When you go to an land based casinos you'll usually find 4 - 6 craps tables at max and online usually one single craps game. I guess you really do learn something new everyday.
