Post Do I need fast internet to play at online casinos?
I'd like to start playing at some online casinos and would like to know whether I require a fast internet connection in order to get started with playing online?

I suppose that for the downloading of the software and any games that are associated with the online casinos that I choose to play at would be good but I mean more for when you're actually playing the casino is it really important how fast the internet connection is?

The reason I'm asking really is cause we have a cabin deep in the woods where funny enough we have a phone line but cannot get DSL or cable internet service. I've looked at some alternatives via satellite but we don't spend enough time up there to make it worth our while to get this kind of a service setup. So we'd be limited to playing via telephone lines when we're up there.

Let me know what you guys think and whether playing there via telephone line internet would be a problem?

Hi Hillary,

You should be OK on dial-up for just playing however the one thing to keep in mind is that even after you finish downloading and installing the online casino software that you're playing you'll still connect to the casino servers each time you open the casino where there may be some updates and downloads. It's rare but sometimes the casino software may require some major components to be re-downloaded or upgrades to be installed that could be rather large in file size. So these although rare may take some time.

Yeah but for playing I think that the only slow down that you may realize or find is in that the speed at which you can play (ie. get a response for something like a spin in a slot game) may take longer then if you were to be playing on a high speed internet connection.

Hope this helps.

Wiz.

I agree with the casino wizard in that you shouldn't really expereince too many problems. I in fact have played on dial up connections in the past and even the issue of slow downs with the general play isn't really affected all that much.

Cheers,
Smitty.

I on the other hand have had problems with playing on dial up in the past, bear in mind this was several years ago so they may have remedied any of the issues that I was encountering at the time.

Might be a good idea to contact one of the casinos that you're either playing at or thinking about playing at to inquire as to what their suggestion would be in such a matter like this regarding dial-up play.

Hi there guys!

Thanks for the feedback and advice I'm going to give it a shot when we're down next at our cabin.

All the best!

Hillary

I too agree that you'll likely be OK and really won't encounter too many problems. I do think thought that if you contact the casino or review their minimum system requirements that they'll make it clear that a broadband connection is the suggested but if you don't have it I'm sure that your play won't be affected.
