Post Transparancy in land based casinos and lotteries?
This question isn't so much related to online casinos but more so really related to land based casinos and lotteries in specific. I live in Ontario in Canada and this past weekend we had a draw with the Lotto Max lottery which had a first place jackpot prize of 50 Million dollars (pretty huge sum right). Anyways the way that the lottery numbers used to be drawn was on TV where everyone could see them being drawn in real-time thus leaving much less room for error and potential manipulations of the lottery. It's apparently no longer like this and I'm really not sure how the lottery numbers are drawn for any of the Ontario or Canadian lotteries for that matter. Doing things behind closed doors even with their own observers has the potential for being manipulated if you ask me. A system where by people are able to watch as the balls are drawn and drop is by far a better system for randomness. Any sort of computer generated numbers if that's what they're currently doing in order to get the winning numbers for the lottery can undoubtedly be manipulated and thus result in numbers that weren't drawn in a fair manner.

The lottery numbers form this last nights draw were delayed several hours and weren't actually posted onto the website until the morning. Something seems a bit amiss here and I'm not really sure why they would do something like this unless there was some sort of a glitch or that they needed the numbers to be fully audited.

Anyone have any ideas or feedback they'd like to offer on this?

Thanks

This is rather peculiar and I would say that it was probably an internal audit by the lottery corporation or governing body in Canada that manages this sort of thing. Usually it would be a government run agency that would oversee this sort of thing. I beleive that since it was a large draw as this one was as you mentioned it was for 50 million I would say that they probably would have brought in an auditing team or if something looked a bit suspicious that they would have had to do something like this just due to their protocols and procedures.

I'm sure that if you've noticed it that a slue of other people there in Canada have noticed this as well and are likely questioning what's happened as well. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a report that's issued and details are mentioned as to why this has happened. I'd even pick up the local papers there for the next few days as there may be some details in there as to what's went down and why the numbers weren't released at the times that they regularly are.

Big state and provincial lotteries as in the case here for you are monitored very closely so I wouldn't really worry about it too much to be honest I think that it will be OK and that no one was cheated, etc... It should all be good!

So there hasn't been any public or formal statement made in regards to the issue with the late numbers being published. I've deduced that it was something minor though and that if there was a major issue and any cause for concern that we would have hear more about it and there would have been some sort of a press release which there hasn't been. I'm not too worried about it anyways just wanted to get your opinions and feedback on the matter really.

Take care everyone and have a great week.
