80s Night Details Page
Software (9)
With games like this, Wizard Gaming announces itself as a force to be reckoned with. It runs very easily, and there is a great functionality to it. We really like the general concept of the game. Controls are at your fingertips, and the graphics are perfect for the theme. There is an on-off switch for the sound, and AutoPlay is available. Fun is the key, and Wizard is gaining a reputation as a company whose games are a lot of fun to play. That's the bottom line.
Easy to Understand (9)
Super simple. You have wilds and scatters, and once you have a grasp on that, it pretty much becomes a video slot game with a lot of atmosphere. The bonus games are very easy to understand - one offers free spins, the other lets you select buttons and win bonus counts. The one possible problem is that help files specific to the game are not easily accessible.
Graphics & Sounds (10)
There is a great "Art Deco" look to the game, kind of like you may have remembered from a TV show like "Miami Vice" (there is even a Sonny Crockett-type symbol in the game). The graphics are extremely vivid, colorful and well-done. If you turn the sounds on, you're going to hear that constant, studio-manufactured beat (complete with the never-ending cymbals) that was very characteristic of the disco era.
Theme and Concept (10)
This is a strong concept, because it is able to play a little "tongue-in-cheek" with the era, and it brings up a lot of the pop culture icons of the time, with the discotheque as an overlying backdrop. It is quite possible that the demographics of those who would be playing this slot game are very consistent with those who remember the era very well, so there is going to be a great nostalgic value.
Game Features (7)
There are a couple of bonus games. One of them offers twelve free spins, in which the wins are doubled. That is not bad, although you could probably shop and find something more lucrative, including free spins games where you can achieve more free spins during play, which this game does not do. The Arcade Bonus Game is not bad, as it gives you an opportunity to pick a button and get a bonus, and pull in more than one bonus amount per session.
Betting Options (8)
You can bet a penny all the way up to a dollar. 80s Night has 15 paylines that can be enabled, so inasmuch as you can wager ten coins per paylines, you can get a maximum bet of $150 into the game. There is certainly nothing wrong with the bet spread, although you could probably find games out there with many more paylines.
Jackpots (9)
The maximum payout you can achieve on any one spin in this game is 30,000 coins. That happens when you have five scatters and the maximum bet out, because of the 200x multiplier. The wild symbol - the Chee-a-Pet - brings 20,000 coins for five in an enabled payline. The other symbols in the game are somewhat low; the best of them is the Sports Car symbol, which will produce 1000 coins for a five-spot.
