WagerWorks has just released its second online slot game based on the epic Star Trek. This game is subtitled Against All Odds and has been developed in conjunction with Paramount Pictures. Star Trek Against All Odds is an all pays slot game, which in WagerWorks parlance is called Multiways Extra. The structure is the unique WagerWorks hexagonal with three spots on the 1st and 5th reels, four spots on the 2nd and 4th reels and five spots on the 3rd reel. This gives the player 720 ways to win. The advantage in Star Trek Against All Odds is that the symbols pay both left to right and right to left. The thematic symbols include space, Captain Kirk, Spock, other crew members and weapons. Uhura from the earlier WagerWorks Star Trek slot game is missing, so her fans will be somewhat disappointed.

The wild symbol appears only on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels, but can appear stacked. This is a fantastic advantage in a Multiways Extra slot game. Star Trek Against All Odds offers an Energizing Wilds feature. Energizing Wilds may randomly trigger on any reel spin. Two to five symbols on the three central reels are turned into wild symbols. The payouts are made only after the changes have been made.

The highlight of the Star Trek online slot is the Enterprise Defender Bonus. It simulates one of the key battles in the Against All Odds episode. The Enterprise Defender Bonus is triggered by getting five Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. Players have to click on the Start Battle button and defend the Enterprise against incoming Romulan missiles and bomblets for 45 seconds. They have to use the cursor to aim the weapon which fires automatically. The missiles and bomblets damage the Enterprise shields and suspend the weapon fire momentarily. If shields are reduced to zero, the bonus game aborts early. Players earn 500 points by destroying a missile and 100 points by destroying a bomblet.

Players who earn less than 12,000 points are given the rank of lieutenant. Players who earn less than 14,000 points are given the rank of commander. Players who earn 14,000 points or more earn the rank of captain. In the second part of the bonus game players spin a random wheel for their rank. There are three wheels per rank. If the first spin lands on a value, this becomes the final award. If the first spin lands on a special feature slice, a second spin is awarded.
