Cleopatra has always been one of the more popular of the land slot machine games from IGT. In 2006 WagerWorks converted it to an online format and offered it at all its casinos like Virgin Casino. So popular was this slot game that in 2008 WagerWorks released Cleopatra II with some additional features. The popularity of both versions of Cleopatra has continued unabated. This week Virgin Casino has launched a new promotion that gives its players a chance to wager on these slots games and win bonuses in addition to the regular payouts. The promotion is appropriately labelled as Cleopatra Tournament.

The promotion has started on Monday July 12 and will run for 7 days ending on Sunday July 18. On each day Virgin Casino will offer £1,000 in cash prizes making it a total of £7,000 for the week. The distribution of the prize pool has been cleverly done. The top winner each day will get a sizeable chunk amounting to £250, but in all 46 players will share the daily prize pool. Players in the 2nd to 6th places will get £50 each, players in the 7th to 16th places will get £25 each, players in the 17th to 36th places will get £10 each and players in the 37th to 46th places will get £5 each. In order to win a cash prize players simply have be one of the top 46 players to have wagered the most on the day on Cleopatra and Cleopatra II online slot games. Virgin Casino invites players by saying “Fire up the reels and battle your way to cash!” Each day is a fresh contest and amounts wagered on the earlier days will not count. All cash prizes will be awarded by 5pm the following day.

Cleopatra online slot game has the usual ancient Egyptian symbols, but these are crafted in a more vibrant fashion. The Cleopatra symbol is not only a wild but it doubles payouts as well. Five Cleopatra symbols on an enabled payline offer a fixed jackpot of 10,000 coins. The Sphinx symbols offer scatter payouts and award 15 free spins at tripled payouts. Cleopatra II offers a sleeker look. The line payouts are similar to the earlier version. It is the free spins round that provides the additional attraction. Players can win up to 50 free spins with a multiplier of up to 50 times.

Virgin Casino is powered by WagerWorks but offers online slot games from other software providers as well. Recently the online casino launched Thunderstruck from Microgaming. It has followed that up with two other popular Microgaming slot games, which are Tomb Raider and Break Da Bank. Virgin Casino is licensed and regulated in Alderney.

The Cleopatra games are some of the better games that have been developed by Wager Works over the years. I think that Virgin Casino is my favorite WagerWorks online casino out there but at the end of the day I beleive still that their online casino software is inferior to that of Microgaming and some of the other larger online casino software providing companies.
