Mermaid’s Quest is a video slot from Vegas Technology. It has 5 reels, 8 paylines and a maximum bet of 8 coins. The slot has the popular under the sea theme with a mermaid as an added attraction. In fact all the characters on the reels seem to have come from the Walt Disney animated movie The Little Mermaid. The Treasure Chest is the wild symbol. King Neptune is the scatter symbol and the Mermaid is the bonus symbol. King Neptune triggers the free spins bonus round and the Mermaid triggers the bonus game on the second screen. The other symbols on the reels are the Clam, the Fish, the Shell, the Dolphin, the Seahorse, the Turtle, the Starfish, the Crab and the Lobster. All the characters are cutely crafted and appear in colorful bold graphics.
Mermaid’s Quest is one slot game in which the subsidiary symbols display better animation, which is appropriate to the theme. Full Review - Mermaids Quest (9.72)
Before starting the game players will have to choose the coin denomination by operating the +/- signs on either side of the coin denomination button. Coin denominations are 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 5.00 and 10.00. Players will also have to enable up to eight paylines by clicking on the BET ONE button the appropriate number of times. All eight paylines can be activated by clicking on the BET MAX button. Winning combinations pay only if they occur in enabled paylines. In Mermaid’s Quest players can wager only one coin per payline by default. But this is hardly a problem because the coin denomination range is suitably larger. Once the settings have been completed the game can be started by clicking the SPIN button.
The Treasure Chest is the wild symbol. It does not multiply the payouts but it offers a huge fixed jackpot of 10000 coins when five of the symbols appear in an enabled payline. King Neptune is the scatter symbol. Two or more scatter symbols result in scatter payouts. Five scatter symbols have a payout of 1000 coins. The free spins feature is triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels. 10 free spins are offered at doubled payouts. Additional free spins can be triggered during the free spins round but these additional free spins are at normal payout. The bonus game on the second screen is triggered when three Mermaid symbols appear in an enabled payline. The sea engulfs the reels and the Mermaid guides the player to three different locations on the sea bed. At each location there are a number of treasure chests and the player has to choose one of them. The chests reveal the bonus credits won. The graphics of the three locations are very realistic, especially the one next to the sunken ship. The sound effects of the gurgling ocean and the Mermaid swishing her way through it add to the realism.
