Ukash Expands Spanish Service

Through a press release a few days ago, Ukash, the leading financial services provider to online casinos, announced that its Spanish customers could now access its virtual cash products round the clock

The Ukash product range consists of prepaid vouchers that can be purchased for cash. In fact it is the world’s largest provider of this service. In Spain Ukash had partnered with Telefonica for the sale of its vouchers at selected Telefonica pay booths. Now this service has been extended to 80,000 phone booths across Spain including those that operate day and night. These open-loop vouchers can be redeemed at the thousands of merchants that accept Ukash, including at online casinos, with the simplicity and security of using cash. In addition to the phone booths Ukash vouchers can be conveniently purchased from ATMs and over 5,000 retail shops all over Spain. The vouchers can also be issued online, justifying Ukash’s claim that they are "the most easily accessible e-cash offering in the country.

Purchasing Ukash vouchers at Telefonica booths is very simple. Players have to follow the instructions on the screen and deposit coins for the value of the voucher when asked to do so. They will immediately receive their Ukash 19-digit unique code via SMS. They can then log onto their favorite online casino and enter the code at the cashier, in the same way that credit card numbers are entered. There are two advantages. The code has a one time use and so even if someone manages to access it from the server of the casino it will serve no purpose. No other personal details have to be provided. At the Telefonica phone booths the vouchers can be purchased in fixed denominations of €5 and €10 only. But they can be split and combined as required by online casino players by registering the voucher code at the Ukash website. Telefonica is a leading global integrated telecommunications company, with a presence in 24 countries and headquartered in Spain. Ukash and Telefonica have had their partnership going from October 2008, but in a limited manner.

Ukash is available at more than 320,000 points of sale in over 30 countries.
