Three Card Poker Strategy Made Quick, Simple and EasyBy: Ryan Alders, Thursday May 1st 20140 Comments Email Print Three card poker is a game that you can find under a lot of different names, but the rules mostly stay the same, and almost every single online casino has it. If you're looking to get into table games or casino poker specifically, then this is a game that you'll want to look into. The way it works is that you place a bet, and you're dealt three cards. These three cards are the only information you have to make your decision with since you don't see any of the dealer's cards. You have to decide between essentially giving up your ante bet and your hand or doubling your bet by adding what's called a raise bet. If you fold, then you lose your ante and the next hand starts. However, if you raise, then you get to see if the dealer qualifies with queen-high or better. If the dealer doesn't qualify, then you will win 1:1 on your ante, and you'll get back your raise with no payout. If he qualifies and you lose, then you lose both of your bets. Finally, if he qualifies and you win, then you win payouts on both of your bets. Strategy in this game is something that most people play by ear. There are a few ideas you can keep in mind. First, you don't want to fold too much because you'll be giving up good hands that can be profitable to raise. On the other hand, you can't really raise with worse than queen-high because you're basically forced to either break even or lose money on the hand because that's what he qualifies with. Along these lines, you need to find a happy medium that keeps both ends of strategy in mind. The quick and easy strategy for three card poker is as follows. If you have a king-high hand, an ace-high hand, or if you have a pair or better, then you will always raise no matter what. If you have jack-high or lower, then you will always fold no matter what. With queen-high, you look at what your second card is. If it's five or lower, then you always fold, and if it's seven or higher, you always raise. If you have exactly Q6-high, then you fold if your third card is a two or three, and you always raise if it's a four or higher.
