The iGB Gambling Affiliate Awards 2009By: Ryan Alders, Thursday February 4th 20101 Comment Email Print The iGB Affiliate Awards 2009 were held on January 28, 2010, at The Grange in St. Paul's Hotel in London. This prestigious and extravagant black tie event was attended by over 500 luminaries of the online gaming industry. Apart from honoring the best among them the awards function was an evening of "celebration, glamour and entertainment". This year the iGB Affiliate Awards had a first of a kind. It was the first online gaming industry event to be live streamed via the Internet. This resulted in a total audience of over 1800 viewers from 16 different countries. The global viewers could watch the event live at CalvinAyre.com. This year over 4,000 members of the online gaming affiliate community voted for the 23 categories in which awards were announced. Apart from awards to the online casino industry, awards were also announced for online poker, online sports betting and online bingo. Since the iGB Affiliate Awards is an awards program by the affiliate industry, one of the most prestigious categories is the Best Casino Affiliate Program. This year the award went to EuroPartners. EuroPartners manages popular online casino brands like Casino Tropez and Casino Del Rio. These casinos are powered by Playtech. One of the highlights of the EuroPartners online casinos is the Elite Challenge Tournament. This is a leader board tournament held regularly at the various casinos in different online casino games. The leader board is updated continuously so that players can gauge their positions in real time and adjust their wagering accordingly. The Best iGaming Casino Software award for 2009 went to Microgaming. Microgaming has made this award its own, having won it regularly since the inception of these awards. The Microgaming highlights in 2009 were the release of its 400th online casino game The Great Galaxy Grab, the release of the first All Pays online slot game Burning Desire and the hosting of The Grand Slam of Slots online tournament that for the first time offered a top prize of $1 million. Some of the other awardees were Renee of Rewards Affiliates for Best Casino Affiliate Manager, Income Access for Best iGaming Affiliate Network and Neteller for Best Payment System for Affiliates. This year iGaming Business had announced that it would collect donations from the online gaming industry towards earthquake relief in Haiti. Calvin Ayre had announced a matching donation and both were to be given to Oxfam on the night of the awards. The awards night raised ₤32,500 from the online gaming industry and after adding the matching amount from Calvin Ayre, ₤65,000 was given to Oxfam. Of this Casinomeister raised ₤16,000 from its clients and customers. The total amount donated by the online gaming industry to Oxfam so far is ₤155,316, which includes the matching amount from The Calvin Ayre Foundation. Calvin Ayre is committed to matching donations of up to $1 million and donations from the online gaming industry are still coming in. Some great things are going on in the world of internet casinos and gambling online. I beleive that these awards really are well presented and that companies like Microgaming and Playtech deserve a lot of respect for the kinds of things they've been doing this past year in terms of the games that they've released.
