Microgaming had announced The Dark Knight branded video slot in January 2012. The Dark Knight is the super hero batman, which is owned by DC Comics. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros had released The Dark Knight movie in 2008. This new video slot at Microgaming online casinos is based on the movie. The release of the video slot coincides with the release of the sequel to the movie titled The Dark Knight Rises.

Microgaming has delivered on the hype created over The Dark Knight. To start with, The Dark Knight is a 243 ways to win slot game. This format was pioneered by Microgaming and most of its landmark slots are in this format. Payouts occur more frequently and therefore 243 ways to win is very popular. The Cinematic Spins feature has also been incorporated. After the Spin button is clicked, the reels completely disappear from the screen. Then an audio visual clip of a popular scene from the movie is played across the entire screen. After the clip is over, the reels are again displayed and the slot game progresses normally. This enables Batman fans to relive the best moments from the movie. If players have had their fill of the scenes, the Cinematic Spins feature can be disabled.

Usually in super hero themed slots the characters are displayed in their caricature format. In The Dark Knight the symbols are of the characters as they appear in the movie. So Christian Bale appears as Bruce Wayne, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes and Heath Ledger as The Joker. Players who have not seen the movie may have some difficulty in identifying the characters, but such players will be few in number. The bat is the wild symbol and it appears stacked on the reels. The Joker graffiti is the scatter symbol. Apart from awarding scatter payouts it awards 15 free spins starting with a two times multiplier. In a new feature either Batman or The Joker may appear on the reels after any spin and award players a random prize.

The Dark Knight has been linked to the four-tier Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network. With the four Mega Moolah slots and The Lord of the Rings, this is the sixth video slot game in the network. The jackpots will rise even faster now, which is great news for players at Microgaming online casinos. The jackpot round will be triggered randomly, following the now familiar pattern. Once triggered, the player is assured of one jackpot prize. As of now the Mega Jackpot is almost 1.9 million credits.

The Dark Knight is live at all Microgaming online casinos, but is not available for free play. CasinoAdvisor recommends All Slots, Platinum Play, Golden Riviera and Spins Palace.
