Strategy for CrapsBy: CasinoAdvisor.com, Thursday June 12th 20081 Comment Email Print In Craps there are plenty of strategy books, but they don't all work. What you really need to concentrate on is the bets. Before we get into this strategy though, let's take a look at a couple of aspects of the game. First in Craps the rules are complicated. Even when you have a guide laying it all out for you there are areas of confusion. For example a shooter must roll the come out roll. On this roll they must make point or the shooter can't continue. It seems pretty simple in these terms, but then you have to know what point is. Point is the 3, 4, 5, 6 or 10 being rolled. Once point has been made there are other bets you can place than the come or don't come bet. However, a seven must be rolled before other bets are placed. Once the 7 is rolled you can then bet on the come bet again. If you bet on the come wager then you have to have the point appear before the seven is rolled again. As you can see in this small explanation there are little rules for all the bets that make it hard to know what to do. The best thing you can do for a complicated game is get your own craps table set up and two dice. As you play the game outside the casino you can study the rules of the game. This helps you to learn the different bets and when you can place. As this strategy goes it offers you a look without distraction to learn the game. Then you can start applying more to the strategy. Once you understand the game you will have a chance to decide what bets are better for you by studying the probability and odds. Probability and odds tells you the likelihood of making certain bets. For example the come bet is going to have a high probability that it will pay off, but betting on a single roll of the dice has a very low probability. A bet on a single dice roll means you are trying to predict the total of that dice combination, which is impossible. Craps is a random game. It is also a way for you to lose a lot of money in a short amount of time if you are not careful regarding your bets and how you handle the money. You don't want to increase the bets when you lose to try and make up what you've lost. Instead you should always bet the same amount. The next thing you have to realize is that the dice throw is random and will remain random so sticking with the four bets we mentioned are best. They have smaller payouts, but more frequency. You also need to think about the house edge. It is around 5 percent meaning the house has the advantage and will always. Craps can be fun when you know how to play and don't mind losing a little money. Hey, just a quick note that there are some inaccuracies in this article. First, the point or "box" numbers in craps are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10. 3 is a craps number, and you cannot establish a point by rolling it. Also, the shooter will continue to roll until sevening out. Which is when a point is established, and then a seven is rolled BEFORE that point number is re-rolled. When no point is established, a shooter can roll as many 7, 11, 2, 3, or 12s as possible and still retain the dice. Only 7ing out loses control of the dice.
