Playtech Starts 2012 On Strong NoteBy: Joe Valentino, Thursday May 3rd 20120 Comments Email Print Online casino software provider Playtech has released its Q1 figures for the year 2012 and it is evident that the momentum created in 2011 will continue. The key financial figures for Q1 of 2012 are given below. The increases and decreases stated are in comparison with the performance in Q4 of 2011. The gross income was up 13% to €88.4 million. The total revenues were up 8% to €75.1 million. The breakup of the performance by product verticals was as follows. Online casino revenues were up 5% to €34.5 million. Online poker revenues were down 3% to €5.3 million. Online bingo revenues were up 6% to €4.4 million. Videobet revenues were down 10% to €2.4 million. Services revenues were up 11% to €25.7 million. Share of profit in William Hill Online was up 51% to €13.3 million. If the performance is compared with Q1 of 2011, then in most sectors the increase is phenomenal because of the continuous quarterly growth registered by Playtech in 2011. The Playtech management has stated that the performance in the first 31 days of Q2 of this year is marginally better compared to the first quarter. Of more interest to players at Playtech online casinos is the status of the projects the software provider is involved in. The outstanding performance of the services division was based on organic growth and a new agreement with an existing licensee to provide marketing consultancy and operational services for the Asian market. The details were not provided. The integration and fruition from the Geneity, Mobenga and Ash Gaming acquisitions are ahead of expectations. The Gauselmann joint venture, in which Playtech is partnering with Merkur Interactive GmbH, is in an advanced stage for the start of online gaming operations focused on the German market. Playtech licensed online casinos, including Bet365, Betsson, Sportingbet, and Unibet, have launched in the newly regulated Danish market. Several licensees are getting ready for launch in Spain when the new regulations go into effect in the second half of this year. Boyles online casino was successfully launched on the Playtech platform in February 2012. The Gala Coral launch on the Playtech platform with verticals like online casino, bingo, poker and mobile sports is at an advanced stage. The most interesting news is that Playtech has signed an agreement with Freemantle to launch branded online slots based on reality shows like Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. This will add to the fantastic range of branded slots that Playtech currently offers. Certain other news items were reconfirmed in the quarterly statement released. One was the software licensing agreement with Caliente, Mexico's largest land-based gaming operator. The other was entry into the social gaming sector. The statement said, "Playtech remains committed and excited about the prospects for the impact of entering into the social gaming arena and believes it will aid the company's growth in the future."
