The leading software provider Playtech is well known for its branded Marvel Movie online slot games. Playtech has also released a scratch card for most of these titles. The background graphics and the symbols are taken from the slot games and create the same playing environment. The most interesting aspect of these scratch cards is the variations that Playtech has introduced. Some of these variations are innovative and unique. All the scratch cards have an auto play feature. Some of the scratch cards cap the winnings and hence players may not get full value of the multiplier, especially for larger bet amounts. Players would need to check this out on individual scratch cards before wagering.

The most common format is that of matching any of the symbols in a row or column of the scratch card, which is set in a 3x3 grid. Each symbol has its own multiplier that is displayed in a payout table. The player selects the card value, activates the game and scratches the cells to reveal the symbols. If there is a match then the player is paid back his bet with the matching symbol’s multiplier applied. The Marvel super heroes figuring in this format of the scratch card are Wolverine, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Captain America. Punisher War Zone and Thor follow this format but with an added feature. Each of these scratch cards has a designated bonus symbol. It is the skull bones in the case of Punisher and the orb in the case of Thor. When the bonus symbol appears anywhere on the grid, the bonus round is triggered. The player picks a bonus symbol out of six to win a cash prize, which is also a multiple of the current bet.

There are subtle variations to this format in other Marvel super hero scratch cards. In Blade the three matching symbols can appear anywhere on the grid, but the players can scratch only four of the nine cells. The payouts are not associated with the symbols. There is a separate cell for the payout, which reveals a random value when scratched. In Iron Man 2 players have to match three reactors in a line, which can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Elektra works the same way, but players can match any of the like weapons symbols. In both cases the payout is randomly revealed through the scratch card. The Fantastic 4 scratch card is understandably played on 4x4 grid. Players have to match any of the four super heroes in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. If all four members appear on the scratch card, in any position, the player is awarded a free card. The payouts are determined by a pay table.

Spiderman uses a format that is common to some of the other Playtech branded scratch cards. When the scratch card is activated a designated symbol and payout is displayed along with six concealed cells. If this symbol appears in any of the six cells the player receives the payout. The X-Men scratch card is the most innovative and fascinating of the lot. Each game consists of two cells. If both cells reveal the same character then the player receives the full payout. If both cells reveal super heroes or super villains then the player receives half the payout. If the player gets one super hero and one super villain then he loses. The super heroes in the X-Men scratch have a blue background and the super villains have a red background for easy identification. There is a wild that can act as any character. Players can wager on up to 6 games at a time in the same scratch card.
