Playtech Makeover Of Captain's Treasure Slot

It seems to be the season for makeover of pirate themed online slot games. Last month Cryptologic had released a refurbished version of Buccaneer's Bounty. Now Playtech has come out with a new version of Captain's Treasure. As is the custom with Playtech the new version is titled Captain's Treasure Pro to distinguish it from the older one.

The older Captain's Treasure was a path breaking slot being one of the earliest slots to have 5 reels and 9 lines. Comparisons of that game with Captain's Treasure Pro will be made. The new slot has 20 paylines. In the old game players could wager only one coin per payline whereas in the Pro version they can wager up to 10 coins per payline. The styling of Captain's Treasure Pro is more modernist. The graphics are sharper and the symbols have a 3D photographic appearance rather than a 2D caricature like presentation of the earlier version. Captain's Treasure Pro has the captain, a parrot, a cannon, a ship and a treasure chest for symbols along with high value cards.

In the older version of the slot the pirate was the wild symbol and the treasure chest was the scatter symbol. In the Pro version the treasure chest is both the wild symbol and the treasure symbol. This symbol does not offer any line payouts only scatter payouts. The highest line payouts occur when five captain symbols appear on an enabled payline. This payout is 5,000 coins, which is the same as that in the earlier version.

Captains Treasure Pro offers a free spins bonus round. This round is triggered when three or more treasure chest symbols appear anywhere on the reels. This feature offers 10 free spins and can be re-triggered. The novel feature of this bonus round is the mystery scatter. At the start of the free spins one of the symbols is designated as the mystery scatter symbol. For each mystery scatter symbol that appears on the reels during the free spins there are additional payouts. The payouts range from 100x to 5000x the triggering bet depending on the symbol designated. For example if the captain symbol appears as the mystery scatter then it offers a payout of 500x.

Captain's Treasure Pro comes with a gamble feature. Players can try to double all of their winnings or half of them. Five cards are dealt with the first one exposed. Players have to choose one of the remaining cards. If it is greater than the one exposed then the amount staked is doubled. Else the amount staked is lost.
