Playtech Double Attack Blackjack Online

Double Attack Blackjack derives its name from the rule that allows the player to double his wager after seeing the dealer’s face up card. A number of software providers offer variants of Double Attack Blackjack, but Playtech has now offered a game that is more exciting than all of these.

For starters, Playtech Double Attack Blackjack is played with eight 48-card Spanish decks. A Spanish deck has all the tens removed. After the player places his initial bet only one dealer card is dealt face up. The player’s cards are not dealt at this stage. Based on the dealer’s face up card, the player can optionally place an additional Double Attack bet up to the value of the initial bet. Once the player has exercised his choice either way, the player’s initial two cards are dealt face up and the dealer’s second card is dealt face down. Thereafter the game proceeds in the normal blackjack manner.

The detailed Playtech Double Attack Blackjack rules can be accessed from the Help file in the Menu. Some of the salient rules are explained here. The bet amount of split hands equals both the initial and the Double Attack bet. The player may double only the initial bet or both the initial and the Double Attack bet. The dealer checks for blackjack as in regular hole card games. If the dealer’s face up card is an Ace, the dealer offers Insurance bet before checking for blackjack. The player may surrender after having hit several times, after doubling and after splitting, but not after deciding to stand. Any player that places a Double Attack bet against a face card or ace will only lose the initial bet if the dealer has a Blackjack. Because of these changed rules the regular payouts have also been changed as follows. The player win, including blackjack win, pays at even money. The Insurance bet pays at 5 to 2.

The most exciting feature in Playtech Double Attack Blackjack is the Bust It side bet. It is an optional bet but has to be placed upfront along with the initial bet for the main game. A player cannot place a Bust It bet if he is not playing the main game. The first condition for this bet to pay out is that the dealer must bust with exactly three cards. In order to settle the Bust It side bet, the dealer draws a third card even if the player has bust or has a blackjack. The Bust It bet can win even the player loses the main game. The Bust It pays out according to the given pay table.
