Playtech Announces New Branded Slot Online

Over the last year the online gaming software provider Playtech has taken the lead in branded slots games. It began its branded games portfolio with the Marvel Movies super hero series and then added Rocky and Pink Panther in agreement with MGM and Kong in agreement with Universal Studios. The latest announcement is of an agreement with Platinum Studios, Inc. Platinum Studios is an entertainment company that holds rights for more than 5,000 comic book characters, which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media. The specific product is the New York Times best-selling graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens".

Cowboys & Aliens tells the story of an alien invasion in 19th century. It was created in 2006 as a graphics novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The plot revolves around an amnesiac outlaw, a wealthy cattleman and a mysterious female traveler who get together to save a group of townspeople abducted by aliens. Both fantasy and outer space are popular themes for online slots, and the combination of the two will provide rich material to Playtech. The slots designer has tremendous scope for thematic animations and bonus games. As part of a multi-year licensing deal, the full launch of the Cowboys & Aliens online slot is scheduled for the summer of 2012. The release is expected to take place at multiple online casinos throughout markets across the globe.

This is not the first licensing agreement for Cowboys & Aliens by Platinum Studios. Platinum Studios licensed the Cowboys & Aliens film rights to DreamWorks. According to reports the film has grossed over $170 million worldwide, not including DVD, television and other mediums. The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde and is directed by Jon Favreau. Incidentally Favreau is the director of Marvel Movies Iron Man and Iron Man 2, both of which have been converted to extremely popular Playtech online slots. The feature film version of Cowboys & Aliens is soon to be released on Blu-ray, DVD and other formats.

Platinum Studios' CEO and creator of Cowboys & Aliens, Rosenberg, said, "Gaming is a whole new playing field for us, and perfectly follows Cowboys & Aliens' success at the box office. I'm looking forward to people playing Cowboys & Aliens slots from their living room!"

Playtech's Head of Content Sagi Harari said that Cowboys & Aliens was instantly recognizable because of great success of the movie and it is the perfect subject for visually impressive games. He pointed out that the comic book complemented the existing Playtech branded games portfolio. Harari said, "Powerful branded games are in high demand, and fans as well as casino-game players will be thrilled to experience our new offering."
