Playtech has launched a new table game called 3 Card Brag. It is very similar to Tri Card Poker except for some nomenclature differences. You can play it at online casinos like Omni Casino and Mansion Casino.

3 Card Brag is played with a standard deck of fifty two cards with no jokers. Each deal is played with a full deck. After you place the Ante bet, the virtual croupier deals three cards to you face up and three cards face down to the dealer. You assess your hand and decide whether to fold or play. If you fold then you lose the Ante bet. In order to continue you have to place an additional Play bet, which is equal to twice the Ante bet. The dealer’s cards are turned over and first he checks for a qualifying hand, which is queen high. If the dealer fails to qualify then you are paid even money on the Ante bet and the Play bet pushes.

If the dealer qualifies then the hands are compared. The hand rankings, from best to worst, are: three of a kind called prial, straight flush called running flush, straight called run, flush, pair and high card. The best prial is 3-3-3, followed by the usual order of A-A-A, K-K-K and so on. If the dealer’s hand is higher, you lose both bets. If your hand is higher, the Ante bet is paid even money and the Play bet is paid according to a payout table. The payouts are run or under at 1:1; running flush at 4:1 and prial at 5:1.

You can place an optional Pair Plus bet along with the Ante bet. It is paid independent of the main game outcome based on the player hand. The payouts are pair at 1:1; flush at 4:1; run at 6:1; running flush at 30:1 and prial at 40:1. The average return to the player is 97.86%. The optimum strategy for the main game is to play if you hold a queen high or better.
