The Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard was launched just over a year ago with a view to facilitate funding of online casino accounts and other online payments. It was an innovative concept and the advantages that it claimed to possess have been demonstrated over the year.

One of the advantages of the Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard is that it is linked to the player's Neteller account using special technology. Therefore no matter where it is used it can access the player's Neteller account and transfer funds from there. The only thing the player has to ensure is that there are adequate funds in his Neteller account. The player can only transfer the funds in his Neteller account and does not get credit as in the case of credit cards. Therefore this deposit method acts as a brake on overspending.

Another advantage of the Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard is that it generates a unique 16 digit number for each purchase. That number can be used only once and can be used only by the person who has generated it. This unique number generator, or virtual card as it is referred to, can be downloaded onto the player's computer and used from there. Alternatively it can be launched from the player's Neteller account.

In order to use the Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard the player first has to log into his Neteller account. He has to select the "Net+ Cards" tab and fill in the online application form. Having done that, he can download the desktop version. Then when he wants to fund his online casino account, he launches the Net+ from his desktop, generates the onetime number and makes the payment. If the player is away from home and then wants to fund his online casino account, he can follow the same procedure from the Neteller web site. Both mechanisms are equally secure.

The Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard is available in eight major international currencies. These include American dollars, British pounds, euros, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, Japanese yen, Danish kroner and Swedish kronor. If transactions are carried out in the same currency as that of the player's account then there are no fees applicable. However if the transaction is in a currency that is different from the currency of the player's account then a foreign exchange fee may be charged. Currently this fee is at 2.95%, but Neteller may reduce or even waive the fee at its discretion.

Online casino players need not rely on the claims made by Neteller in support of the Net+ Virtual Prepaid MasterCard. When Finextra launched its Innovation Showcase in February 2009 highlighting some of the most interesting financial technology developments over the past 12 months, it included the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard. Finextra said that this was the first time an e-wallet has been used as a loading mechanism for both a virtual and physical card. In June 2009 the Net+ card was voted the best new prepaid card at the Cards & Payments Europe 2009 Awards. In July 2009 the Net+ card was the winner of the Best Gaming Prepaid Card at the Prepaid365 Prepaid Card Awards.
