Music Group To Feature In New Online Slot

Village People is a music group that is not on the top rung of popularity. Very soon a lot more people will become aware of this disco music group because Microgaming has announced a new branded video slot based on Village People. A press release late last week stated that Microgaming has inked a licensing deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment for this purpose. ITV is one of the world’s leading international TV distribution, home entertainment, publishing, merchandising and licensing businesses. Sometime in 2019, players at Microgaming online casinos like Royal Vegas, Gaming Club and Spin Palace will be able to play the Village People slot machine.

Village People was founded in America in 1977. The group derives its name from New York City's Greenwich Village. Village People came to be identified with outrageous costumes, catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. As expected, the video slot will use thematic content. It will feature the Village People’s most memorable hits such as Y.M.C.A., Go West and Macho Man. Old timers may recall that these songs played a key role in ushering the disco revolution worldwide. The slot machine will also feature three band members from the original line. They include Lee Mouton the Biker, David Forrest the Cowboy and Mark Mussler the Construction Worker.

Andrew Clucas, COO of Microgaming, explained why this music group was picked for the branded slot. He said, “Village People is an iconic brand that has created an impact on pop culture with songs that have remained popular with mainstream audiences since the 70s and 80s.” He pointed out that the Village People online slot will add a new dimension to the extensive Microgaming portfolio of branded content. Steve Green, the spokesperson for ITV said, “A brand as iconic as Village People is sure to lend a great deal of fun and nostalgia to the themed online slot game, and who better to bring that to life than the company that developed the first true online casino.”

No precise date has been set for the release of Village People. No other details have been provided, like the structure of the slot machine and gaming features included. But given the quality of the existing Microgaming branded slots, there can be no doubt that Village People will be a class product.
