Last year Microgaming released a slot game titled Germinator as a bingo side game on its Flash software. Germinator is not available in the download software at Microgaming online casinos. Germinator is an unusual slot game. The reels consist of a six by six matrix. Paylines are formed vertically and horizontally resulting in 12 paylines, all of which are compulsorily enabled. The player has to wager one coin per payline, the coin size varying from £0.05 to £2.00. The symbols are five different "germs" each having a different multiplier value from 0.2 to 10.

When the slot game is activated by clicking the Play button, the germs are randomly arranged on the reels. After the initial payout is made, the germ symbols in the winning combinations explode and disappear, leaving vacancies. The germ symbols above the vacancies drop down to fill the empty spaces below. If the new arrangement of germ symbols results in winning combinations then further payouts are made at no additional cost. This process continues till there are no winning combinations on the reels.

The second feature in Microgaming Germinator at Virgin Casino is the Medi bonus game. Three or more Capsule symbols displayed anywhere on the grid at the end of a game activate the Medi bonus game. Players have to choose a germ symbol by clicking on it. All germ symbols of that strain are removed from the grid. The vacant spaces are filled as described earlier resulting in possible further wins at no additional cost. If three or more Capsule symbols are displayed on the grid at the end of the bonus game, the Medi bonus game is reactivated.
