Microgaming has raised the bar again. Microgaming has the distinction of creating the first online progressive jackpot millionaire. Now it is set to create the first online slot tournament millionaire. In a press release from the Isle of Man on July 1 Microgaming has announced the 'Grand Slam of Slots' tournament. The term Grand Slam refers to the four most prestigious tennis tournaments, one of which is currently underway at Wimbledon. Therefore it is appropriate to label this most prestigious online slot tournament as a 'Grand Slam' event.
The qualifiers have begun on July 1 and will run through the summer till October 18. The final will be held over a nine day period from October 22 to November 2. A leader board will be provided for players to track their positions. There will be 16 qualifiers, each of them being a freeroll. Players will be allowed to rebuy for €10. Four of the most popular Microgaming online slots have been selected for the freeroll qualifiers. They are Avalon, Hitman, Thunderstruck and Tomb The first place winner will receive a prize of €1million, with the other winners sharing the remainder of the €1.3 million prize pool. The second place winner will get €50,000 and the third place winner will get €25,000. The prize amounts will successively decrease thereafter. 200 players from the 251st to the 450th positions will receive €100 each. In addition there will be 32 special prizes of €1,000 each. Hence in all 482 players will receive prizes.
Microgaming expects about 9,000 players from all Microgaming online casinos to participate in this mega event. Microgaming's Casino Channel Lead, Mike Hebden said while announcing the tournament, "As a market leader, it is our aim to present new and unique offerings, and the 'Grand Slam of Slots' is a testament to Microgaming's customer-centric approach." In conjunction with the 'Grand Slam of Slots', the Fortune Lounge Group of online casinos had released its own promotion called 'The Monster is Coming'. Fortune Lounge online casinos are powered by Microgaming. This promotion is for affiliates and players. Affiliates who rope in at least 20 new active casino players between July 1 and November 2 will be given the opportunity to participate in an exclusive affiliate tournament in November. The first prize in that tournament is a luxury car worth $30,000. For its players the Fortune Lounge group is arranging 8 exclusive freerolls, 8 lucky draws and 3 car give aways. Prizes totaling to $415,000 will be given in these events. The prizes will include, in addition to the three cars, 120,000 casino credits in the freeroll tournaments and lucky draws and 1,500 tickets to the final of the 'Grand Slam of Slots'. Well I definitely think this is the biggest tournament I've ever seen online. It's nice that it's in Euros as well... I'm looking forward to playing in this one and will certainly let everyone know if I make it to the top 10!

Wow seems like a very attractive tournament. I think that this tournament will bring in a lot of publicity for Microgaming for sure. The terms and conditions and length (run time) for this tournament isn't too bad actually. I think that I'll be competing in this one. The prize pool and distribution of prizes is fairly nice as well and seems rather generous. I enjoyed playing in the Grand Slam tournament myself for which I had a ticket for but unfortunately I didn't place all that well. The one thing I really wish that they would do with this is to allow you to change games. After playing Tombraider for as long as I did I'm really rather sick of it.
