Double Exposure Blackjack Details Page
Software (9)
Like all of Microgaming's casino offerings, you wind up with crisp, clear, vivid graphics and a lot of options. The rules of the game are easy enough to find - just mouse over the sign that says "Game Rules" at the top left-hand corner of the interface, and the "Help" files in Microgaming games are of quite a bit of help indeed. If you want to refer to a customizable strategy table for this version of the game, you can do that too.
Easy to Understand (9)
This version of blackjack is like no other. in that you can see both of the dealer's cards before making your playing decision. For some people, this makes things a bit more confusing, at least at first. But once you come to the basic understanding of the rules variations that are involved (e.g., blackjacks paying 3-to-2, ties going to the dealer except for blackjacks, etc.) it becomes much easier to understand. In other words, it is not more difficult to grasp than any other radical deviation from the norm would produce.
Graphics & Sounds (9)
Graphics are very sharp, as we have mentioned. It is easy to see the cards, and there is a very clean interface. If you look at the bottom (below the table setup), you will see pretty much everything that you need to play, including your "Options" tab, available statistics, the switch to go back and forth from Regular Mode to Expert Mode, and an exit to the other games available in the casino. Sounds are adjustable, so you can control "game sounds," "win sounds," "background sounds" and "advanced sounds" at any time during the game.
Game Speed (9)
You can avail yourself of four different settings: Slow, Medium, Fast and Fastest. Ultimately, of course, you are in control of how long it takes to make your decisions, so the game will not pass you by. The speed controls probably come into play a little more when you really get used to the game, because they allow you to get in more hands per hour when you are able to speed things up.
Game Features (9)
There are a lot of options at the player's disposal. Being able to play with a strategy table is going to be a key for many players, since the game of Double Exposure, with its rules variations, makes the dynamic a little different. With AutoPlay, you get an advanced blackjack strategy table. You can also have "Quick Deal," which increases the speed at which the cards are dealt. This allows you to get into a rhythm as you play. And with "Auto-Rebet" you can ensure that you bet the same amount of money every time on the table, that is, if that is the kind of thing you want to automate.
Fun Factor (9)
Listen, even if the subtleties in the rules balance things to the house's advantage, it is still an interesting and exciting experience in being able to see both of the dealer's card before you even decide whether to hit, stand, split or double. So we're not saying this is a game you should be playing all the time, but it is something you may want to include in your "favorites" list.
