In the News is Cryptologic Owner Amaya GamingBy: Fabian Rictor, Tuesday February 12th 20130 Comments Email Print Ever since the Canadian firm Amaya Gaming acquired Cryptologic last year, the product offering from the software provider has improved in quality and quantity. Now Amaya Gaming is set to leverage further the contracts that Cryptologic had entered into before the acquisition. Cryptologic had an agreement with Warner Bros Consumer Products (WBCP) acting on behalf of DC Entertainment that gave Cryptologic exclusive rights to develop real money online casino games based on its popular super-heroes such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Superman, and The Flash. Now Amaya Gaming has extended the agreement and will remain the sole provider of these branded games. Amaya Gaming is taking the deal further. It is planning to develop new 3D games for distribution over Desktop computers and mobile devices exploiting the super hero brand equity. It has also announced new games based on other DC characters. These include the Justice League, Supergirl and the DC Gotham Girls who are Batgirl, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Often villains get more mileage than the heroes and Amaya plans online slots based on popular DC Comic villains Bane, The Joker and Lex Luthor. Presumably these games will follow the structure of the existing DC Comics Cryptologic branded slots in which the Bonus Bet provides possible access to a lucrative bonus game. Alain Brosseau, director of product strategy for Amaya, said, “We are excited that the DC Comics comic book design will continue to be part of our pay-to-play online product development plan.” He pointed out that their branded games have been highly popular with online casinos and their players. The stunning graphics, animation and sound increase the player’s enjoyment of these games. These games are available at all Cryptologic powered online casinos and also at others through a special instant play platform. The brand equity of DC Comics attracts people with previously only a modest interest in online casino gaming and thus helps in widening the customer base. On a completely different front Amaya Gaming has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bally Technologies to integrate its Ongame Poker Platform and casino suite into Bally’s iGaming Platform. This has been done to take advantage of the imminent legalization of online gambling in some of the states in the USA. Darcy Krogh, VP Business Development of Amaya Gaming Group, said that Bally was selected as a partner because it is an established global brand with great customer reach in the land based gaming industry. Bally Technologies Vice President of Business Development John Connelly said that this partnership validates the current trend within the gambling industry that integrates traditional land casino and online casino systems.
