How to Play Let It Ride With Expert-Level PrecisionBy: Fabian Rictor, Saturday May 17th 20140 Comments Email Print Let It Ride is a table poker game that has some elements of video poker in the sense that you're playing to try to place on a payout table. You place three bets of equal size, and then three cards are dealt. You have the option to pull back a bet. Then a fourth card is dealt, and you have the option to pull back a second bet. The fifth card is dealt, and your third bet always stays in play. Then you're paid out according to the payout table. If you want to play Let It Ride like an expert, then you need to change your perspective on the game. Here's another way to think about it that's better for your progression as a player. You make a single bet, and three cards are dealt. Next, you have the option to add another bet. A fourth card is dealt, and you have the option again. The fifth card is dealt, and you are paid out if you hit a good enough hand. This approach to Let It Ride will put you in the right state of mind for making solid strategic decisions. You only want to put in bets if you're getting the best of it, so you need good starting hands to do that. If you have at least a pair of tens at any point in the hand, then you're always going to place more bets when you have the option because you're guaranteed a 1x payout with a chance for a bigger payout if your hand improves. With four cards, you should also put in your bet if you have four to a flush or four cards to an open-ended straight. That much is simple to remember, but there are other draws you should play as well. If you have three cards, then you have to be particularly precise with your betting because a single mistake can set you back in a major way. Three to a royal flush is a hand you should bet with, and so is three consecutive cards to a straight flush as long as the lowest card is five or higher. If you have three to a straight flush with one gap, that's fine to bet if you have at least one card that's ten or higher to make pairs with. Along similar lines, a straight flush draw with two gaps is fine if you have at least two cards that are ten or higher.
