How to Get Started in Craps With Two Simple BetsBy: Fabian Rictor, Friday January 17th 20140 Comments Email Print If you look at all of the classic casino games, then the one that people usually are the most intimidated of is craps. It seems like a complicated game with a lot of moving parts, and since most people these days tend to know simple games like slots that are extremely easy to learn how to play, it's easy to understand why a lot of people just wouldn't bother with craps. If you like a lot of action with a fast pace like what slots can give you, then craps is a great game to learn. You can get started off in craps with two simple bets. These two bets are the most fundamental bets in craps, and they involve either betting with the shooter or betting against the shooter. If you want to bet with the shooter, then choose the pass bet. If you want to bet against the shooter, then go with the don't pass bet. Each of these bets has a low house advantage of less than 1.5 percent, and once you learn how craps works, they will seem like simple bets that will open you up to all of the other bets, including some of the best bets in the entire casino. Let's talk about a pass bet. When a shooter starts playing, he makes a roll to establish a number called a point which will be either a total of four, five, six, eight, nine or ten. If the roll is a 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 instead, then the pass bet either immediately wins or loses. The pass bet wins on 7 and 11, and it loses on 2, 3 and 12. If a point number is established by rolling a 4-6 or 8-10, then the shooter gets to keep rolling until one of two things happens. This set of rolls is basically a race to see whether a 7 or the point will come up first. If the point comes up again before a 7, then the pass line bet wins. If the 7 comes first, then the pass line bet loses. That's really all there is to the pass line bet. The don't pass bet is the exact opposite of the pass line bet, and it wins when the pass line loses with one exception. Instead of winning if the come out roll is a 12, you push.
