Frequent Hits on Mega Moolah Online Jackpot

Of late the popular Microgaming Mega Moolah progressive jackpot has been reporting frequent hits. Mega Moolah secured its place in online gambling history when it paid over €6 million to a River Belle online casino player in May 2009. Thereafter it sort of settled in payouts between 2.5 million credits and 4 million credits, but over the last six months the payouts have begun to nose dive. Originally the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot was networked to the four Mega Moolah slot games – Mega Moolah, Summertime, Isis and 5 Reel Drive. Then in the summer of 2011, the branded slot game The Lord of the Rings was also attached to this network.

The last big win on the Mega Moolah network came in October 2011 when a Challenge Casino player won €3.84 million. Then in December 2011 a player at Platinum Play online casino hit the jackpot for £1.96 million. This was the first hit through The Lord of the Rings on the Mega Moolah progressive network. Three months ago there was a hit for 1.53 million credits, one month ago the jackpot was hit for 1.39 million credits and then just three days ago it was hit for 1.07 million credits. Details of the last three hits are not available. Microgaming has not revealed at which of its online casinos these hits took place and from which slot game attached to the network.

The progressive jackpots of online slots hit randomly and therefore it would be unwise to read too much into this change. Sometimes the jackpot will go for a long period before being hit and the amount will rise to huge levels. At other times the jackpot will hit at frequent intervals and pay out close to reset levels. In Microgaming Mega Moolah the reset level is an attractive 1 million credits. Therefore these frequent hits will not dampen the flow of traffic to the attached slot games.

However, this change in the frequency of hits has initiated comments about this progressive jackpot at online casino forums. Actually the discussion pertains only to The Lord of the Rings, one of the slot games on the Mega Moolah network. Some online gaming affiliates have claimed that Microgaming will remove The Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring from its library on May 31. It appears that Microgaming has not confirmed this rumor, and has not denied it either. One affiliate has even claimed to have received the message that Microgaming will be replacing the present slot game with something better. Last year a similar interest had been created by Microgaming when it revamped The Lord of the Rings to include the progressive jackpot and the Gallium feature.
