I've had many hobbies throughout my life but I have to say that playing at online casinos has become one of my favorite past-times and hobbies. I really look at playing both at online casinos and playing poker online both of which I probably play equally to be one of the most fun and desirable forms of online entertainment as of current. It's very much obvious why so many people play and why the industry had grown to be so large which hence is definitely one of the main reasons as to why the government here in the US really wants to put a curb on the ability for US citizens to spend what they want to at online casinos and in doing other forms of gambling online. Because they're not able to tax nor the casino nor the player right now they're loosing out on a tremendous amount of revenue. Anyways politics aside the purpose of my post is really just to illustrate some facts about online gambling that I've found over the years as playing as a hobby.

1. Never spend more then you can afford to loose. This should be a general rule of thumb when playing at any online casino, land based casino or indulging in any form of gambling period.

2. Always be very selective of where you play and be sure to read the terms and conditions as outlined by the online casinos you do choose to play at. Both in terms of their sign-up terms also known often times as the EULA (End User License Agreement) as well as when you accept any bonuses from them.

3. Try to stagger your spending. That way if you have a lot of time on your hands such as myself you'll have an opportunity to spread that out and thus extend you bankroll.

4. Try playing lots of different games. You'd be surprised at how many new games I learned playing at online casinos as opposed to when I visit land based casinos. When playing online from the comfort of your own home it's much easier to want to try other games and not feel shy about just now knowing how to play them like we do often times in land based casino type environments.

Well I just wanted to share my experiences and thoughts with regards to online gambling with the members here on the site as you all seem like a nice bunch of people.

Well put post! I think that there are many people out there like you and I as I feel that I'm in the same boat and have made playing at online casinos my main hobby. It's great and all but sometimes I find that it detracts me from all those other things that I used to really love to do as well. I suppose as you get older though you just want to sit around sometimes, haha!

I think that the four points you made as well are very valid and good points for both newbie and all players for that matter to pay attention to. I think that the first two points you made are the most important and best ones.

I'd also like to add a 5th point to your post which would be really that before playing at an online casino that players should really do some research in order to figure out where's best for them to play.

All very good points my friends and I think that Clay's point on doing research is a good and valid point. I think that for US players finding a casino that's able to accept and take your wagers is first and foremost the most important thing in addition to knowing if they're a trusted and reputable casino that you can entrust with your deposits. It's key to know where to go and play. I think that online casino guides such as this one though are good starting points for players. Then doing their own independent research and looking more for player reviews then actual casino portal reviews is a good idea to figure out where to play and where maybe not to play.

I too have found that it's become a great hobby and more of a hobby and for entertainment then in order to chase the dream of winning huge sums of money and being able to retire. I like playing and find it to be a great escape for me as I beleive is the case with most players as well. It will continue to be this way and I beleive that as soon as they start introducing more and more social elements into the world of online casinos and gambling online that it will become even more fun and popular for players.

Totally it's become more fun too now that casinos are putting more time and energy into having better games developed. I think that about 4 years back that the games weren't nearly as good as they are and they just keep getting better. I find that I play more now online then I used to. Not sure that's really a good thing necessarily but still it just goes to show that there's lots of us that are in the same boat really!

It's slowly become one of my favorite hobbies but I definitely don't try to let it dominate my life like some people do. I think it's key to be able to still go out and do fun stuff and things outside of gambling on the internet.

I really think and agree and beleive that it has become one of my favorite hobbies to indulge in as well.
