I have a question for you guys that I'm interested in knowing a bit more about. I don't think I've posted a question pertaining to this subject as of yet but I'm interested in knowing a bit more about it regardless.

You know how there have been recent moves towards the regulation of the online casino and gaming industry? Well I'm interested in knowing a bit more as to how they plan on dealing with cross state gaming laws. I beleive that in the US the laws are as such that each state has it's own set of rules and regulation with respect to land based gaming which would most certainly cascade over to any online casino gaming operations that are run in the state or where players from the state are allowed to play.

Do you guys think that the hierarchy of the laws would be as such that they would be superseded by Federal law or would the whole thing be a mess?

Not really an important question for me to know any solid answers to but if anyone has any opinions they'd like to express on this would be great.

I think personally that this subject is a very complicated one and that it's very difficult to actually know or to predict how it would be handled. Federal and state laws are so different and if the federal government was to implement policy that would overrule that of each individual state in this matter I beleive that there would be a massive amount of issue from many states. It's a sensitive issue and should be viewed as such.

My personal view on it and due to the fact they Senator Kyl is pushing for the enforcement of the UIGEA that there will first be an attempt at an outright prohibition before there's any sort of full blown regulation of the industry. I do beleive that there is still a lot of hope for the regulation of the online gaming industry but it's definitely several years away. I really hope I'm proven wrong but that's just my gut feeling on the whole matter.

I too agree that the hurdles to be overcame with regulation are vast both politically and technologically. I think that what they'll try to do is push for the further enforcement and prohibition of online gaming using the UIGEA as their vehicle. After that's done it's my belief that what will likely happen is that gradually new pieces of legislation will be implemented to allow for the regulation of online gambling and licensing of it by American operated and regulated governing bodies. Really Kyl and other senators who are in favor of the further enforcement of the UIGEA are really in the pockets of large land based conglomerate casino groups (ah... like Harrah's, lol...).
