Rumours circulating about US online casinos being legalized?
Seeing that I try to keep up on information related to US online casinos I found that recently there's quite a bit of information out there that's been circulating that involves a potential legalization of online gambling in the US. I know that since the UIGEA it's been very difficult on online casinos to accept funds from player and to in some cases pay players out... Anyways such a legalization would surely reverse this and it would be like it was a few years back... Hopefully Microgaming, Playtech and Cryptologic would come back into the game and start servicing the US industry to allow US players to again start playing.
Anyways if anyone has any further information or knows anything regarding this and or even the reversal of the UIGEA it would be greatly appreciated if you could reply to my post on this subject here on Casino Advisor.

From my understanding based on my readings so far it does certainly seem as though there is a push for regulation and there's no doubt that this is something that really is on the forefront of new age thinking for the United States it's just a matter of whether it would ever come to pass and work 100%. I'm not sure how it would be structured but from what I understand about interstate gambling rules in the US regulating the online gaming market seeing as each state has their own set of laws related to gaming would be difficult. First it may need to pass that online casino gambling and online gambling in general is controlled on a federal level vs. a state by state level.

I seriously believe that it's about time to legalize online casino gambling in the US, though it's much of a vague point to ponder on right now...Gotta hope for a favorable response to these rumors...

I totally doubt that we will see online gambling pass anytime soon. It has taken then nearly 3 years to attempt to impliminent UIGEA law and the banks are still behind on doing so. the DOJ doesn't have the staff to follow-up on the UIGEA and has only enforced and prosecuted a handful of cases since the law passed.
What I see may be a possible change is allowing online poker by regulating U.S. companies and not overseas poker websites.
also, I believe the passage of any law allowing online gambling will result in the same IRS treatment as now applies to skill game sites such as Worldwinner. Where only winnings are reported to the IRS not losses. This is especially problematic to those that do not itemize their deductions, those retired and on social security(that would see their income increase and effect their benefits). also, the problem of keeping a "log" that is required by the IRS on each bet.
Better off the way it is as long as we can still find a way to deposit and be paid.
Anytime the u.s. government gets involved you can expect major problems, regulations and ungodly rules and penalties.
just my opinion

That would be excellent and GET RID of all these other country sites that have taken full advantage of US Players, Some are legit but more and more are manipulating their own policies to their advantage.

I understand this was on the MA Gambling Bill which was approved but the online gambling portion was removed.

I think they really need to legalize online casinos in the US it's because of the high demand on online business and people wanted more to go online at home rather gambling and drive long places.

This is an old story. Something that happened a long time ago. Of course it will make things easier for the casino users. That's better way to do business if you ask me.
