It really depends on what type of experience you're looking for.
Texas holdem seems to be a bigger time killer and usually benefits those who are more patient and disciplined. Texas holdem, if played this way has lower variance with less luck involved.
Omaha is currently very popular due to it's wild variance and ability to make big hands a lot easier. You can get away with playing a wider range of hands and the pots can get quite big because of it.
