The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has publicized new tools that will aid reservation of problem gamblers away from the casinos or any other gambling establishments.
The software features facial recognition and has by now been put into several casinos. Its common goal is to block problem bettors by holding them as they walk into the casinos. Cameras will examine the faces of anyone entering the casino, and those who are blacklisted will be rejected to enter instantaneously.
The technology was advanced by iView Systems. It actually is very innovative and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s expenses are estimated to be 3-5 million dollars to acquire the tools in all of Ontario’s 27 gaming houses. It is in 19 casinos at this time, but is projected to be within all 27 by the end of the year.
The Director of Policy and Social Responsibility for OLG, Paul Pellizzari, says that the software is a phase up on older approaches that were used to detect problem gamblers. He commented: “”We developed some custom systems that would biometrically encrypt the facial data that we had in the system. We took what the industry benchmark was for encryption and we enhanced it and did a number of other things to make hard to drudge into. But if it was hacked into illicit people would not have the right to use the data.”
