Through a press advisory from its headquarters in London, eCOGRA has informed that chief executive Andrew Beveridge is among the nine persons named in the Law and Regulation section of the Hot 50 list published by the business publication Gaming Intelligence.

Gaming Intelligence says that the list honours "the most talented, innovative and inspired people working in online gambling". Apart from Law and Regulation, the other categories are Operator Icons, Superstar Suppliers, Backstage Heroes, Marketing and More and Rising Stars and Tech Wizards. The Hot 50 list was compiled by a judging panel that comprised Warwick Bartlett of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants; Andrew Bulloss the head of betting and gaming practice at Odgers Berndtson; Mark Davies the chief executive at Camberton reputation management; Morgan Stanley executive director Vaughan Lewis; EGBA general secretary Sigrid Ligné; Gaming Intelligence managing editor Bobby Mamudi and financial analyst Dawid Myslinski. Mamudi explained that the purpose of the Hot 50 list was to recognize the achievements of industry executives who are shaping the future of online gambling. Gaming Intelligence intends to make this an annual affair.

Other online gambling luminaries listed in the Law and Regulation category are Juan Carlos Alfonso the deputy director general of National Gaming Commission Spain; Martin Cruddace the chief legal and regulatory officer of Betfair, Clive Hawkswood the CEO of the Remote Gambling Association, the US lawyer Jeff Ifrah who has been deeply involved in the Full Tilt Poker case; Francesco Rodano the head of remote gaming at Italian regulator AAMS; Birgitte Sand the director of the new Danish Gambling Authority; Paul Telford the general counsel for PokerStars and Jenny Williams the chief executive of the UK Gambling Commission.

An individual citation has been issued for each person chosen detailing his or her achievements. The citation for Beveridge pointed out that as CEO of eCOGRA Beveridge has made an impact on responsible gaming in the online gambling industry. He has been listed in the Hot 50 specifically for his handling of the team that developed the CEN (European Committee for Standardisation) Agreement for Responsible Remote Gambling. The citation pointed out that there was considerable disagreements in the proceedings at the start. In his role as chairman, Beveridge assuaged doubts and balanced hundreds of different viewpoints to produce an agreement that has been widely accepted by the industry and is being used as a template for good practice to win over sceptical and protectionist governments.

Commenting on his inclusion on the list, Beveridge said that he felt honoured to be in such respected company. He said that the industry is maturing and moving toward national regulation in many countries. This will bring benefits to players.
