eCOGRA Certifies Live Dealer SoftwareBy: Joan Peppin, Tuesday April 13th 20101 Comment Email Print In a press release from its headquarters in London eCOGRA has announced that it has accredited Evolution Gaming with its Certified Live Dealer Seal. Evolution Gaming has become one of the first software providers to pass eCOGRA's rigorous live dealer specific inspection. Evolution Gaming is an international leader in live gaming software, which it has been providing since 2006. It has offices in London, Malta and Stockholm and a high tech Internet video-streaming studio in Latvia. Its client list reads like the Who's Who of the European Internet gambling industry and includes 888, Bet-At-Home, Expekt, Gala Coral Group, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, PartyGaming and Unibet. Evolution Gaming is regulated through the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. Andrew Beveridge explained that live dealer operations were significantly different from purely software powered online casinos and therefore required a different set of best practice standards. The standards or eGAP for live dealer gaming have been specifically developed by eCOGRA. In live dealer gaming the games are streamed over the Internet in real time from casino studio environments managed by pit bosses and staffed by croupiers. This format uses real gambling devices and tables managed by live staff. Therefore the eGAP requirements have to cover both hardware and software. Beveridge outlines some of the tests carried out by eCOGRA. They include tests for problem gambling and dispute facilities, anti-money laundering systems, staff training, operator probity, player information security, staff access to sensitive areas, the retention of video recordings of all sessions, collusion controls and overall game statistical performance on the roulette, baccarat and blackjack games offered. Chartered Accountant Gareth Muirhead led the eCOGRA review team. He spent several days in Riga in Latvia where the Evolution Gaming studio is located. He ensured that eCOGRA's Total Gaming Transaction Review system was in place and that the Evolution Gaming team was continuously monitoring all gaming activity. His report to the Independent Directors controlling the issue of eCOGRA seals stated "Evolution Gaming operates a very tight ship, and the cooperation of chief operating officer Svante Liljevall and the technical and operational staff in Riga was outstanding." Evolution Gaming chief executive officer Jens von Bahr congratulated the management and staff in the Riga studio on achieving the eCOGRA accreditation. He said, "As a company we have always tried to lead rather than follow, and I am delighted that you have been successful in satisfying a tough but very practical set of international best practice standards. This can only boost our confidence in the commercial arena, knowing we are among the first to successfully put our technology, systems and people to this type of rigorous test." It's actually pretty great to see that new live dealer games are coming about online. I beleive that these kinds of casino games hold a lot of value with certain types of players. Me personally I'm fine playing against an RNG vs. a real spin on roulette or cards being dealt in blackjack but for some I would imagine that they'd be happier the other way.
