It is the first of its kind of conference to be held in Asia and is being billed as the sister event of European Gambling Briefing, which has been extremely successful in shaping the regulatory mechanism in Europe. Clarion Gaming and Beacon Events are organizing the conference. Asia is one of the fastest growing online gambling markets with hectic activity in places like Macau, South Korea and the Philippines. It is the right time for the online gambling fraternity of Asia to discuss issues like Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsible Gambling and to assess how they compare with Europe and America. The conference will also discuss issues like the appropriate level of government regulation; operator accountability; junket regulation and licensing; anti-money laundering laws and gambling compliance. There will also be a country wise assessment. The organizers have selected a panel consisting of eminent members. Panos Makridis who is the Responsible Gaming & Compliance Manager for Galaxy Entertainment Group will moderate the discussions. Other panel members include Francisco Gaivao who is a Senior Legal Counsel with Melco Crown Gaming, Professor Hao Zhidong who is the Associate Professor & Head of Department of Sociology at the University of Macau and Tex Rees who is the Fair Gaming Advocate with eCOGRA. In a press release from its London headquarters eCOGRA announced that Ms. Rees would be participating in the Asian Gambling Briefing. The release also highlighted the credentials of Ms. Rees that make her suited for the participation. Ms. Rees joined eCOGRA in 2003 with over 15 years of experience in both land-based and online gambling casinos. Prior to joining eCOGRA she had worked with organizations like LiveBet Online and SuperBet. LiveBet Online is a software developer and Ms. Rees managed customer relations there. At SuperBet she managed customer dispute resolution and established and implemented a customer care protocol. This laid the basis for her work at eCOGRA where she resolves player disputes by the hundreds every year. Ms. Rees played a pivotal role in formulating eCOGRA's Responsible Gambling Requirements. Having done that she is responsible for verifying their implementation at the over 100 online gambling web sites certified by eCOGRA. One of her greatest achievements has been the creation of the International Responsible Gambling Code. For this she had to spend considerable time and effort in motivating and coordinating with the industry members. eCOGRA is proud to say that it was through her efforts that the International Responsible Gambling Code was adopted by industry trade organizations like Remote Gaming Association, European Gaming and Betting Association, Interactive Gaming Council and by leading online gambling jurisdictions. Now Ms. Rees is set to provide her expertise to the Asian online gambling industry.
