Downloading Online Casino Software

All leading online gaming software providers offer their casino software in two versions. One is the download version. This has to be permanently saved and installed on the hard disk of the player’s computer. The other is the no download or the instant play version. This can be played from the browser being used to access the Internet without permanently saving it on the computer. The download version of the software offers greater stability, more online casino games and features and therefore most players prefer this version.

Downloading and installing the download version of the software is an extremely simple process. Players need to access the online casino web site and download the software from there. After downloading the software the players need to install it on their hard disks by running the set up application. Even though the software is installed on their computers, players need to be connected to the online casino via the Internet in order to play the games.

There are certain issues that the player should be aware about. The first is to make sure that his system has the capabilities required by the software. Some of the important parameters in this regard are:

  • Free disk space
  • System memory space (RAM)
  • Processor speed
  • Type of Internet connection
  • Monitor resolution
  • Sound card

If the actual capability falls short of the requirements it is advisable to upgrade the system before downloading the software.

In general downloading anything from the Internet is becoming riskier. The presence of viruses or malicious software embedded in the downloaded application cannot be ruled out. Therefore the latest operating systems have incorporated features to counter this. Download online gaming software, no matter from which software provider runs on Microsoft Windows. The latest version of Windows is Vista. Vista has an inbuilt User Account Control (UAC), which is a new security component meant to counter undesirable elements in the software to be downloaded. Unfortunately it sometimes interferes with legitimate software as well, such as online gaming software from reputed software providers. In such an event the player using Vista may need to disable the UAC.

The more reputed online gaming software providers are briefly diskussed below:

  • Microgaming Software Download - Microgaming has by far the largest download package consisting of over 400 online casino games. It recommends the use of a 1 GHz processor, 128 MB system memory and 250 MB of free space in the hard disk. With a dial up connection the download can take 8 minutes, but with a broadband connection this could come down to less than a minute.

  • Playtech Software Download - Playtech offers over 100 online casino games. It recommends a 32MB system memory and a 20MB free hard disk space. The average download time is about 10 minutes using a dial up connection and 2 minutes with cable and ADSL connections. Playtech specifies that its software is compatible even with Windows 95.

  • Cryptologic Software Download - Cryptologic is the second largest software provider with more than 280 online casino games. It recommends large system capabilities with 1.7 GHz processor, 2GB of system memory and 1 GB of free hard disk space.

  • Realtime Gaming Software Download - Realtime Gaming offers more than 120 games. It makes modest requirements on system capabilities. It recommends 300 MHz processor with 64 MB system memory or RAM and 50 MB free hard disk space.

  • Vegas Technology Software Download - Vegas Technology offers more than 100 games. It also makes modest requirements on system capabilities. It recommends 200 MHz processor with 64 MB system memory and 100 MB free hard disk space.

  • Rival Gaming Software Download - Rival Gaming offers more than 70 online casino games. It recommends 450 MHz processor with 256 MB system memory or RAM and 200 MB free hard disk space.

  • Wizard Gaming Software Download - Wizard Gaming has the smallest suite of less than 30 online casino games. Yet it recommends a processor speed of 1 GHz, system memory of 512 MB and free space in hard disk of 500 MB.

I think it's great that you guys have developed tutorials on how to go about downloading and installing the various online casino software platforms out there. It's definitely helpful to people I would imagine.

Great work that you guys continue to do here on the site with respect to adding these video tutorials. I would like to see some video reviews of the casinos themselves or some video news pertaining to online casinos and gambling online being presented here on the site sometime soon.

I'm a big fan of online casinos have been for quite some time actually. Of the casinos I play at 99% of the time I opt for the download version of the casinos that I play at primarily for a few reasons but mainly due to the fact that the overall experiences of playing at a download casino is far superior.

Of the online casino software that is available out there for play there's no doubt that I prefer as I think that most other players do as well prefer playing download versions of online casino software over the non download flash instant play versions.

I find that the online casino software platforms that offer a mini download process where you can first download a small app then download the main one and register while this process is going on to be the best kinds of online casino software to download and the easiest and most convenient.

I've never had any problems myself downloading and installing any online casino software packages or platform that I've played on. I think that it's generally a pretty straight forward process.

How about some videos instead that show us how we can win decent amounts at online casinos more regularly! Lol, I'm just kidding I know it's not possible! I shouldn't be complaining either I've had a decent week playing online!

Lol... I wish I could download and install software onto my computer and play. As a Mac user there really aren't any good options from what I've found so far. I recently posted here on Casino Advisor inquiring about download online casinos but I beleive that there really isn't a really good piece of download casino software for Mac users out there!

I find downloading each of the software's out there pretty much the same although Microgaming's concept of allowing for registrations during the download process is a great idea.

I don't think that the big difference between the various options you have out there for software and more importantly casinos that are powered by various software providers is really in that getting the full suite of games loaded and installed on your computer the first time is that each software provider offers a different number of games. for example Microgaming offers something like 400+ games as mentioned in this article. That would definitely take a while... Downloading each of the softwares is pretty much the same process. You visit the site you download the software you install the software, create an account, deposit money, loose money, lol... and then play again the next day!

I've never had really any problems downloading and installing online casino software until recently when I tried playing at Rome casino which by the way ended up being a really crappy online casino. Overall though these kinds of problems don't exist.

I don't really have any problems downloading online casinos or with UAC or any of that stuff, it's never given me any problems.

I'm a real fan of online casino software that you download vs. that of the no download versions as well. Just even in terms of the feature set of the lobby and client itself you'll always find that the download version of online casino software is much better and feature packed.

I agree 100% I've tried the no download casino software offered by many of the online casino providers out there and although some aren't that bad they're always outdone by download versions of the software. There's no doubt that there is a big difference between the two. I think that if you try and evaluate the no download versions yourself and then the download version to see the difference yourself you'll fully understand what we're talking about.

No download software over the instant play flash versions of online casinos is undoubtedly better. It does require a bit more in way of hard drive resources and overall computer system but overall I think that people that try the download version never go back to the flash version even if it's where they first started. Download casinos provided by each of the providers that are described in this article are rather straight forward.
