Cryptologic Launches New Marvel Slots Online

It appears that Cryptologic has resolved its issues with Marvel Comics because it has just released two new online slots based on their super heroes. The super heroes, Captain America and Wolverine, are not new because they feature on the earlier Marvel slots. But the latest slot games are different from the earlier ones in a number of ways.

The new Marvel slots are not linked to the Marvel Progressive Jackpot. In fact they do not offer any progressive jackpot at all. Therefore they are not listed with the Marvel Jackpot slots. These slots have 50 paylines and four rows of symbols across the reels. Therefore players will find them listed under the 50+ line slots in the games menu. The backgrounds to the reels have been changed. The symbols that are used in the new Marvel slots are essentially the same as in the earlier slots. However, the low paying thematic symbols from the earlier slots have been replaced by playing card icons. The trademark red boots of Captain America and the source of his super powers are missing as symbols in the new games. Similarly, Wolverine’s boots, knapsack and badge are among the symbols left out. This will disappoint Marvel fans to some extent because the details in the thematic symbols were a big attraction.

All this is overshadowed by the hope of being able to play on new Marvel Comics super hero slots in the future. Cryptologic has sub titled these online slots as Action Stacks. This is because the super hero in each case is the wild symbol that can appear stacked on the reels. The stacks can be four high and when they appear on the first or second reels, usually plenty of payouts result. The symbols also get animated in these cases. Captain America hurls his disc, which grows larger and appears to come out of the screen at the player. Wolverine ferociously swipes with his metal claw. When a number of stacked wild symbols show this action simultaneously the effect is awesome. That is the intent of the sub title Action Stacks. In both slot games the super hero wild symbols award the jackpot line payout of 2,000 coins and also double payouts when in winning combinations.

The other important symbol in the new Cryptologic Marvel slots is the scatter symbol. In Wolverine this symbol is Sabretooth. In Captain America it is the Captain America logo. These appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. Three scatter symbols offer a payout of two times the total bet. Three scatter symbols also activate the bonus feature in which 20 free spins are awarded with doubled payouts. The free spins can be retriggered.
