The most popular variant of roulette is European Roulette. This variant has 37 numbers - 1 to 36 and 0. In this case all bets lose if 0 is called except those bet on the number 0. European Roulette scores over Mini Roulette because 0 is called less often and it scores over American Roulette because there is only one number that causes all bets to lose. European Roulette has a house edge of 2.57%, which is better than slots. There is one variant of roulette known as French Roulette that has yet a lower house edge, but is offered only on a few online casinos. Hence if French Roulette is not available then European Roulette should be the player’s choice. European Roulette is offered at almost all online casinos.
French Roulette has a structure identical to European Roulette. However it has a rule that is known as "La Partage". As per La Partage if 0 is called then half of all the even money bets are returned to the player. Hence the house edge falls to 1.35%. If you want to play roulette, then look for an online casino that offers French Roulette. Why lose the advantage.

I think that a simple European roulette game is probably the best and for me is likely my favorite type of roulette to play of all the variants of this game that are out there. I've only ever really seen three different versions of roulette though!
