Caribbean Stud Glossary

Ace-King - This is the lowest hand that will win the game. The dealer needs to have this hand in order for the game to go on.

Ante - a bet placed before any hands are dealt.

Ante Box - the place to lay your ante bet on the table.

Caribbean Stud Poker - a variation of five card stud, in which you play the dealer rather than the other players at the table.

Dealer - In poker you have a person that deals the cards and takes care of the bank, they are known as the dealer.

Fold - Instead of staying in the game you close your hand, and discard it on the table top. This is done during your turn to bet.

Hierarchy of Hands - A hand has a certain rank that starts from high to low. This is the rank system you must go by to determine the winner. The Royal flush is the high hand in this scheme.

House - this is another name for the casino or the dealer that you will be playing against.

Payout Table - The amount you will win if you have the better hand.

Progressive Jackpot - this is a separate bet in which you win more based on the hands being played, but not necessarily your hand- it is the dealer or player hand.

Progressive Jackpot Box - you will place the bet you wager on the progressive jackpot in this box.

Push - In any game that you have a tie it is usually referred to as a push. You get the ante bet back, but no winnings.
