Burning Desire is set in the usual 5 reel video slots format but has no paylines. All the 243 possible combinations of symbols act as"ways to win". The parameters of the slot game are as follows. The coin denominations range from $0.01 to $1.00 and a maximum of 250 coins can be wagered giving a max bet of $250. Burning Desire has the usual wilds, scatters, multipliers, and free spins. The Burning Desire symbol is the wild symbol and it substitutes for all other symbols except the gold coin. Another innovation in this slot game is that all symbols act as scatter symbols. If any symbol appears anywhere on at least the first three reels generous scatter payouts are awarded.

The free spins bonus round is triggered by 3 or more gold coin symbols adjacent to each other. In this round 15 free spins are awarded. All payouts during this round are tripled and the free spins can be re-triggered. The maximum that players can win in the free spin round is 90,000 coins. Burning desire has the trademark Microgaming gamble round. After every win players can double the amount by correctly guessing whether the hidden color is red or black. A wrong guess will result in losing everything.
